Introducing a story that feels like a Netflix show
A new serial brought to you by a film and TV analyst and self-professed romance and psychology nerd.
This is Clicking + Waiting, the story of Becca, a 30-something Jewish woman/”good girl” working the corporate ladder who has always played by someone else’s rules.
In the poignant words of Sara Bareilles’ beautiful song, she is all of us, but moreover:
She's imperfect but she tries
Can Becca shed the weight of others’ approval of her to finally break out on her own and discover what’s going to make her happy?
And who is telling her story?
Well, that’s for us to uncover.
Join me every Friday as I drop new chapters of Becca’s story.
Plus, I will periodically drop BTS (behind-the-scenes) bonus content which will serve as fanfic about our multiple narrators.
For those of you who know me well, you likely know I’ve deliberated a long time on how to bring a work of fiction to life. There’s the accountability aspect of continually working on a longer form of writing, which is new to me and my body and brain doth protest against too much. At times, in the process of writing something as daunting as a book, I’ve been my own worst enemy, constantly thinking about the “what ifs.” I guess it’s fair to say that one of my “what ifs” gave way to a really positive question, “What if I just share it with people?” And only when I stood with that question for a beat did the answer of the “where” and “how” reveal itself.
Writing for Substack over here for the last few years has enabled me to spread my writing wings, with minimal fear of them being clipped by an unkind word. I’ve also been fortunate to find kindred spirits throughout the Substack-verse which has sustained both my soul and my typing speed, keeping me on point for churning out content weekly.
For all of this, I’m incredibly grateful and excited to share with you Becca’s story.
A few notes:
This book has a specific order and you should read the chapters from beginning to middle to end. I will release new chapters on Friday.
This book is work of fiction. Any similarities to names, characters, businesses, places, events and incidents in this book are either the product of the my imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.
The content in this Substack is the intellectual property of Beth Lisogorsky. No part of the original content in this Substack may be reproduced or reused without express written permission from the author and without direct attribution to its author, Beth Lisogorsky.
There are multiple narrators in the book. Why? Well because one person framing this story isn’t enough and also because it allows me to get in the head of more than one person which is fun. Also, why have one unreliable narrator when you can have many?
I’m a Swiftie aka Taylor Swift stan. I didn’t go to the Eras tour but I may as well have. You will note this in some of the chapter titles. This is intentional, because well, Taylor rocks and her music is poetry. Also, some of chapter titles reference other song titles too.
So with that…

MULTIPLE unreliable narrators? Oh, my.
